Task Force Outline Submitted by an expert from the Republic of Korea 1st Deployable Systems for Pedestrian Safety Task Force Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute

Background & Objective Need a clarified test procedure for Self-certification System - compliance test is conducted after the vehicle launch and in authority’s labs - therefore, the non-arguable test procedure is required (no inspectors) To develop an amendment to GTR No.9 to adapt the regulation to technical progress by providing a test procedure for deployable systems to ensure an adequate protection performance of pedestrians or VRUs

Work Scope / Subject of Amendment To develop the amendment to GTR No.9 & UN R127 on the test procedure of deployable systems for pedestrian safety Subjects - Part A - Part B · amendment of paragraphs · addition of more paragraphs · addition of Annex 1 ; Test procedure for deployable systems - Other refinements or corrections

Progress & Status 56th GRSP session (2014.12) - Republic of Korea suggested the clarification of the test procedure of deployable devices for pedestrian protection(GRSP-56-21) 57th GRSP session (2015.5) - Republic of Korea reiterated the issue of the lack of provisions concerning the test procedure of deployable devices for pedestrian protection - OICA informed GRSP of the technical service recommendation and guideline(INF GR/PS/141)

Progress & Status 58th GRSP session (2015.12) - Republic of Korea introduced a proposal of amendments to GTR No.9 (GRSP-58-31) 168th WP.29 session (2015.11) - AC3 noted that a proposal of authorization to develop the amendment should be officially submitted by Republic of Korea 59th GRSP session(16.5) & 170th WP.29 Session(16.11) - the authorization to develop an amendment to GTR No.9 on test procedure of deployable systems for pedestrian protection was approved
