Consequences of Sin Sin will take you farther than you want to go. 2 Samuel 11:2–3 (NKJV) 2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. 3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

Consequences of Sin Sin will take you farther than you want to go. Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay. 2 Samuel 11:4 (NKJV) 4 Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. 2 Samuel 11:27 (NKJV) 27 …the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.

Consequences of Sin Sin will take you farther than you want to go. Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay. Sin will cost you more than you want to pay. David: Adversity in his own house (12:11) His wives would be taken from him and be given to his neighbor who would lie with them as he had done to Uriah (12:11) It would become a public scandal (12:12) The child he and Bathsheba were going to have together would die (12:14)!

Genesis 3:5–6 (NKJV) 5 …God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
