The Beginning of School Segregation in the USA June 7, 1892 - Homer Plessy (1/8 black) bought a ticket for the “whites only”Louisana railroad car- was detained Plessy lawyers argued against violation of freedom and the 14th amendment - Judge Ferguson rejected it-Plessy was convicted Segregation is legitimatized USA “equal but separate”

Brown Vs Board of Education 1952- Cases in Kansas,Delaware, South Carolina and Virginia challenge in school segregation Consolidated cases under name Oliver Brown v Board of Education of Topeka Culmination of years of work by NAACP
