MI60 - SALIENT FEATURES IOL Design Material : hydrophilic acrylic Inert Biocompatible Good centration Good in the bag stability Foundation zone IOL Design Formed by the optic and the haptic base Stable portion of the lens Bends under the contraction forces of the capsular bag Foundation zone The features of the material used for the Akreos AO Micro Incision Lens are shown on the slide. The 26% water content acrylic material makes the lens highly injectable. Absorption zone Absorption zone 2

MI60 - SALIENT FEATURES Design: optic Design: haptic Suitable for sub-2 mm injection without compromising quality of vision aspheric aberration-free optic 360° posterior barrier and square-edge design moderate refractive index 30% thinner than parent design 3D-deformable four-point haptics are the next generation haptic design seen in Akreos AO Micro Incision Lens only Provide consistent three-dimensional stability capitalizes on stability features of parent designs four-point capsular bag fixation with three overall diameters overall diameter varying with diopters average 10° angulation innovative haptic shape

STUDY DESIGN DEMOGRAPHICS: 250 EYES OF 177 PATIENTS APR 2007 TO OCTOBER 2008 FOLLOWUP MAX 20 MONTHS MIN 3 MONTHS MICS was performed by a single experienced surgeon with NO SURGERY RELATED COMPLICATIONS

Preoperative evaluation Postoperative Analysis Visual acuity < 6/12 Keratometry < 1 D of astigmatism IOL Master Complete ophthalmic evaluation Visual acuity Surgically induced astigmatism Contrast sensitivity Centration biocompatability

RESULTS BCVA = 6/6, N6 IN 238 EYES (95%6/9, N6 IN 18 EYES (7%)

INDUCED ASTIGMATISM IN DIOPTERS INDUCED ASTIGMATISM SMICS : 0.00D TO 0.50D (Avg 0.30) INDUCED ASTIGMATISM CONVENTIONAL PHACO : 0.50D TO 1.50D (Avg 1.00) No. OF EYES : 250 INDUCED ASTIGMATISM IN DIOPTERS

CONTRAST SENSITIVITY Tested using SLOAN letters of decreasing contrast Distance-1m In both PHOTOPIC and MESOPIC conditions MI60 LENS

PHOTOPIC CONDITIONS Using 85-candles/ sq meter, the Akreos MI60 lens showed marginal improvement of 28% in the contrast sensitivity over other IOLs Akreos MI60 SA60

MESOPIC CONDITIONS Akreos AO MI60 SA60 Using 1 candle / sq meter, the Akreos MI 60 lens had a contrast function of 34%

Good centration and biocompatibility AKREOS AO MI60 LENS POST-OP : DAY 1 POST-OP : 1 MONTH Good centration and biocompatibility
