4 Office Web Apps Office Web Apps Training Course Microsoft Office Web Apps are convenient online companions to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote that give you the freedom to work with your Office documents from virtually anywhere with a supported browser. With Office Web Apps, you will: Access the tools you need from virtually any Internet-connected computer or compatible mobile device. Work better with others, regardless of what version of Microsoft Office they use and whether they work on a PC or a Mac. View your files with great document fidelity and consistent formatting. 11 Office Web Apps Office Web Apps Edit Mode To enter Office Web Apps Edit Mode, click Edit in Browser within the View Mode... or …place your cursor on a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote document in a SkyDrive folder and click Edit in Browser. Note: Only Office files in the 2007/2010 file format can be edited in the browser.

13 Office Web Apps Office Web Apps Edit Mode (continued) To edit a document, type directly in the body of the document. Use the Ribbon to apply Styles and other formatting.

15 Office Web Apps Open/Edit Documents in Microsoft Office To open documents for editing in the Microsoft Office client applications, click Open in (application) within the View Mode... or …place your cursor on a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote document in a SkyDrive folder and click Open in (application). Note: You must have Microsoft Office installed on your computer to use this feature.

16 Office Web Apps Open/Edit Documents in Microsoft Office (continued) In Office 2010, click Enable Editing to edit a SkyDrive- based document. When finished, click Save to synchronize changes back to the SkyDrive folder. Note: Files in the Office Open XML file format (.docx,.pptx,.xlsx, etc.) can be opened/edited in Office 2007 and Office Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003 users must install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack from the Microsoft website in order to open these files. Depending on the version of Office you use, certain features may remain unavailable.

18 Office Web Apps View and Restore Document Versions Place your cursor on a document to reveal the file menu. Click More. Click Version History.

19 Office Web Apps View and Restore Document Versions (continued) Use the version list to browse previous versions of the document. Click the version you want to restore. Click Restore.

21 Office Web Apps Co-authoring in Microsoft Office With co-authoring in Office Web Apps and Office 2010, multiple authors can edit a single document at the same time and stay in sync with each others' changes. SkyDrive-based Excel and OneNote files can be co- authored in the browser using Office Web Apps. SkyDrive-based Word and PowerPoint files can be co- authored using the Office 2010 client applications.

22 Office Web Apps Co-author Excel/OneNote in the Browser Make sure the Excel or OneNote file you want to co-author is in a shared folder and the appropriate users have edit rights to that folder. Place your cursor on the Excel or OneNote file you want to co- author to reveal the file menu. Click Edit in Browser.

23 Office Web Apps Co-author Excel/OneNote in the Browser (continued) To edit the file, type directly in the body of the document or use the tools available in the Ribbon. To see other users who are active in the document, click the status area in the bottom- right of the window. Any changes between users will update in near-real-time. No Save is necessary in Excel and OneNote Web Apps.

25 Office Web Apps Co-author Word/PowerPoint in Office 2010 Make sure the Word or PowerPoint file you want to co- author is in a shared folder and the appropriate users have edit rights to that folder. Place your cursor on the Word or PowerPoint file you want to co- author to reveal the file menu. Click Open in (Application).

26 Office Web Apps Co-author Word/PowerPoint in Office 2010 (continued) You will be notified when another user opens the Word or PowerPoint document from SkyDrive. Click the co-authoring notification in the status bar to see all of the individuals working in the document. If you use Office Outlook for your client, you can click the names for additional communications options. To synchronize any changes, click the Save/Sync button.

28 Office Web Apps PowerPoint 2010 Broadcast View You can use Broadcast View in PowerPoint 2010 to deliver a SkyDrive-based presentation over the Internet. Place your cursor on a PowerPoint document to reveal the file menu. Click Open in Power Point. Click OK if prompted.

29 Office Web Apps PowerPoint 2010 Broadcast View (continued) In PowerPoint 2010, click File. Click Save & Send. Click first Broadcast Slide Show button. Click second Broadcast Slide Show button.

30 Office Web Apps PowerPoint 2010 Broadcast View (continued) Click Start Broadcast. If you use Outlook Live or another Web- based solution, click Copy Link and paste it into a browser message. If you use Office Outlook on your PC, click Send in . Send the link to the presentation attendees. When youre ready to begin, click Start Slide Show.

31 Office Web Apps PowerPoint 2010 Broadcast View (continued) Deliver your presentation. (You will deliver the spoken portion of the presentation over the telephone.) When the presentation is over, click End Broadcast. Click End Broadcast again to confirm.
