Welcome, Broncos!

The First Day of School Homeroom Lists will be posted on the windows for students. Additionally, staff will have copies to assist the students on the first day. Door will open at 8:10 am to welcome students. Parents may walk students to the building, but will not be allowed to walk students through the doors.

The First Day of School Students will be directed to their homeroom class unless they are eating breakfast. Breakfast will be served on the first day. (Free to all students)

Drop Off and Morning Entry Procedures Please do NOT drop your child off prior to 7:45 am each day. There will be no adult supervision prior to 7:45 am each morning. The school is not responsible for incidents occurring prior to that time. Students are expected to be seated on the sidewalk in front of the building by grade level until brought inside each morning. When a bell sounds, all students (including walkers, car riders, and bus riders) will enter the side doors past the cafeteria.

Dismissal Procedures The bell to dismiss students will ring at 4:00 pm. Students will be expected to exit the building promptly. Car riders will report to the appropriate holding area promptly at 4:00 pm. 5th Grade car riders will exit through the front doors closest to Wells Fargo once name has been called. 6th Grade car riders will exit through the side doors with the cross walk once name has been called.

Drop Off and Morning Entry Procedures Walkers Prohibited from crossing Spencer. (Bus Transportation provided) If a child walks, he/she must exit the front of the building. A staff member will escort students to the cross walk and assist the students safely crossing the street if traveling on Watters. If a child walks home and travels on Vista, he/she should use the sidewalks by the cafeteria and walk on the sidewalk by the playing fields.

Drop Off and Morning Entry Procedures Car Riders 5th Grade car riders must be dropped off in front of the building and will walk to the side of the building if dropped off prior to 8:30 am. 6th Grade car riders should be dropped off on the cafeteria side of the building prior to 8:30 am each day. Any student arriving after 8:30 am will need to be escorted into the front office and be signed in by a parent/guardian.

Car Rider Tags May pick up a tag in the gymnasium this evening. Will be filled out by MKMS Staff. First Day: Homeroom teachers will fill out tags for those students not picking one up this evening.

Morning Entry Procedures Bus Riders As buses arrive, those students will enter the building through the door past the cafeteria. Students should have already determined if they want to eat breakfast or not. Bus riders who are eating breakfast: Students will be directed to the cafeteria to line up against the windows while waiting to be directed to serving line K or M for breakfast. Bus riders who are NOT eating breakfast: Students will report directly to their homeroom classroom.

Traffic Flow: Drop off and Pick up (Front of Building—5TH GRADE) Persons driving 5th grade students to/from school will only be permitted to turn right when exiting the front drive after dropping off students in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon. This will facilitate a faster drop off and dismissal process and keep traffic moving. Traffic will NOT be permitted to enter or exit the front drive next to the Wells Fargo Bank.

Traffic Flow: Drop off MORNING ONLY (Side of Building—Buses/6th Grade) Buses will drop students off on the side of the building by the cafeteria. Persons dropping off any 6th Grade student via vehicle should drop them off on the side of the building by the cafeteria closest to the sidewalk that connects to the front of the building.

Traffic Flow: Pick Up AFTERNOON ONLY (Side of Building—Buses/6th Grade) Buses will park on the inside lane closest to the building for students to load. 6th Grade car riders and day care vans will exit the door at the cross walk and wait for the adult to cross the students.

Classroom Supplies Supply List are posted on the district (www.pasadenaisd.org) and campus website (https://kendrick.pasadenaisd.org/). Copies are available in the gym if needed. Electives or individual teachers may provide an additional supply list the first week of school. Bring supplies beginning the 2nd day of school. Please leave supplies at home on the first day. If you have a financial hardship regarding supplies, please contact our counselors Bryan Axtell or Soranjel Pena.

Eating Lunch With Your Child If you choose to eat with your child, please note that you will only be permitted to sit with your child during their scheduled lunch time at a table designated by the administrator on duty. Only parents and grandparents may eat with your child and they must be listed on the White Enrollment Card. You may bring outside food to your child when eating with your child.

Eating Lunch With Your Child Meal Prices Breakfast is free to all students Lunch: Reduced - $.040 Elementary/Middle - $2.20 Adults/Visitor Prices: Breakfast - $2.25 Lunch - $3.50 Please submit a free and reduced application for 2018 – 2019 as soon as you can to continue meal benefits without interruption. Cell Phone Policy Students MAY bring cell phones to school. Cell phones MUST be OFF and OUT of SIGHT at all times. Cell phones will be confiscated if student is caught using the device in any way. A $15 cell phone return fee will be assessed prior to returning cell phones.

Student Technology MKMS is a 1:1 technology campus. Every student will be issued a netbook on Monday, August 27th and will be carried from class to class each day. Students will NOT bring the device home. All students will be STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to pay a $30.00 insurance fee that will cover a one-time accidental damage to the device. DUE NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 18TH! Failure to pay the insurance fee will result in paying for any and all damages to the device regardless of the situation. Set up in the gym for payments this evening.
