E-safety and what you need to know!

More than three-quarters of children aged 10 to 12 in the UK have social media accounts, even though they are below the age limit! Among under-13s, 78% were using at least one social media network, despite being below the age requirement.

If your parents tell you what to do online but you’re at a friends house, what do you do? Do you obey them or do the opposite of what they tell you to do? Your text here

You should only do what your parents tell you to do when on the internet.

Age restrictions for social media accounts

Youtube restrictions You can register for a YouTube account from the age of 13 in the UK. Because YouTube is owned by Google, the site uses a Google account sign-in system to give you access to all their products such as YouTube, Gmail and Google+.

Instagram restrictions Instagram’s Terms of Use tell us that all users must be at least 13 years old. If a UK user is younger than 13, they have failed to agree with the Terms of Use, but they are not breaking the law.

Facebook restrictions If you have registered on Facebook as being under 18, they don’t have public search listings created for them. Their information is limited to friends and their friends. Even if they have chosen to make it available to everyone. Their name, profile picture, gender and networks are visible to everyone

Whatsapp age restrictions As part of its Terms of Service, WhatsApp’s minimum age of use is 16 years old. If WhatsApp learns the information of a child under 16 has been collected on the WhatsApp Site or WhatsApp Service, then WhatsApp may deactivate the account.

Snapchat age restrictions If your birth year tells Snapchat you’re under 13—you’re redirected to the kid version, called SnapKidz. Where you can post kid style stuff and look at sensible posts from kids not adults who could post rude pictures or type mean words.

PLEASE DON’T DO THIS KIDS! Pinterest age restrictions The age restrictions for Pinterest are 13 and above. Why? Well if your using Pinterest at a young age some things are not suitable like mean comments and mean or rude pictures. But if your old enough its your choice to look at random stuff and read or text mean comments to strangers or people who you know, they just annoy you but at a young age don’t go home and do this stuff it is bad and could get you into serious trouble. PLEASE DON’T DO THIS KIDS!

Tumblr age restrictions You have to be at least 13 years old to use Tumblr. Tumblr is a blogging tool and social community. Blogging is an online diary and sometimes can be used to message friends. I don’t know much about Tumblr but all I know is that it is used for blogging not vlogging.

Keeping Your Info Safe Don’t give anyone your address! This is super dangerous! You don’t know who is behind the screen! Don’t mention your full name! Before getting any social media make sure to ask your parents permission and make sure have a private account! Block haters/bullies and tell an adult!

Keeping your address safe If someone asks you for your address or wants to meet up in real life Block them immediately and tell an adult! NEVER share your address You have no idea who is behind the screen. Sharing your address IS SUPER DANGEROUS remember: Never give your address away!

Cyber Bullying Cyber Bullying is something that some children are effected by. Some children stay quite about it because of threats Make sure to tell an adult! If you have any concerns or problems online you can call child line they are there to listen to any online worries!

Full name safety It’s okay if you give out your first name! Never give out your last name!! Say no to people who ask for your details.

Account safety! Never give your password out except to your parents Ask your parents permission before you get social media! Always make your account private.
