What parents want from PP Foster a love of learning. Become confident people. Make friends. Learn patience and tolerance. Social skill development. Realise full potential. Coping skills Fun Learn to write their name. Literacy skills, reading, counting, speech development

Why are we here? To encourage a questioning mind. To become life long learners. To learn patience. To interact with all people (children and adults) in a kind and caring manner. Listen and respond while using manners. Increase independence and confidence. Allow every child to be the best that they can be in both personal and academic pursuits.

SCHOOL VISION We provide every student with an education to succeed in our changing world. Our students reflect our four core values of responsibility, respect, caring for others and personal best. They are successful learners who are confident and creative global citizens.

SCHOOL MISSION At North Kalgoorlie Primary School our mission is to provide engaging and challenging educational experiences that target all students. Our whole school coordinated approach to learning will ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background, gender, culture or ability. A safe environment, where expectations and boundaries are clear and consistent, will underpin the learning environment and four core values. We will work together to develop innovative strategies and programs that respond to the needs of our students and community because we believe EVERY CHILD MATTERS.

Pre-Primary Homework Home readers Begins the start of term 2 (approximately week 2/3). Books will be levelled Assist your child to read through sounding out, rereading, hinting. This should be a time of enjoyment not punishment, for you or your child. Sight Words We have begun introducing sight words to our morning routine. We will be introducing 2 new words each week. The children will be involved in learning them in a fun and active way. Each week I will post to the school website the words we will be introducing. You can use these to reinforce this learning at home.

Parents As Partners Two Way Partnership You are teachers too! Things that you can do to help your child’s education: Attendance : They have to be at school to learn. Less than 90% is considered at Educational Risk On time : This is critical during our literacy blocks in the morning. The doors will open at 8:35am. Sight words: 10 minutes each night will go a long way in learning these. Home Reading :Beginning term 2, this is essential and should happen daily! Remember to encourage ‘reading for fun!’ See us regarding any issues A.S.A.P Please ensure contact details up to date.

Reading At Home In order to promote reading to children at home, the Early Childhood team have put together boxes of books which you can borrow to read to your children. There are questions within the book to assist you in building the comprehension skills of your child. You may borrow these books each morning simply record when you return a book and sign out a new book.

Thank you for being here today!
