MOON PHASES: Objectives: Recognize that the cause of Moon phases is sunlight reflected by the Moon as it revolves around the Earth. Describe the moon phases. Essential Question: What causes the Moon to have a different appearance each night?
What causes the moon to have a different appearance each night? The moon is lit by sunlight bouncing or reflecting off it. The phase you see depends on how much of the sunlit part of the moon you can see. This all depends on the positions of the Earth, moon, and sun.
