SMEs are the key to economic growth Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs): Are a source of innovation Supply larger companies with products and services Are the largest source of employment Contribute to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Generate tax revenue Very large enterprises (>1000 employees) Large enterprises (251-1000 employees) SMEs (11-250 employees) Please use this slide to explain that there are various types of businesses in an economy, one of these being SMEs (11-250 employees). SMEs play a key role when it comes to economic growth and poverty reduction. There’s a lot of research (Worldbank, IMF etc.) confirming that a strong SME sector is a very important component for a healthy economy. Micro-enterprises (1-10 employees) 11/14/2018
