CLEVELAND LLOYD DINOSAURS

At the Cleveland-Lloyd site 46 fossils of ALLOSAURUS have been found Allosaurus is one of the best known dinosaurs and the most common predatory dinosaur of the late Jurassic period. (155 to 150 million years ago) Many of the specimens from the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry are from juvenile and adolescent allosaurs. Allosaurus are carnivores.

At the Cleveland-Lloyd site 1 fossil of CERATOSAURUS has been found Ceratosaurus is best known by the presence of a horn on its nose. It is unlikely that this horn was used as a weapon, but was more likely used for species recognition or mating display. The Ceratosaurus lived in the late Jurassic period roughly 150 to 155 million years ago. Ceratosaurus are carnivores

At Cleveland-Lloyd 1 TORVOSAURUS fossil has been located Remains of Torvosaurus have been found in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. It was a powerfully built flesh eater with huge teeth and savage claws. It lived 148 to 153 million years ago during the late Jurassic period.

At the site 2 STOKESOSAURUS fossils have been unearthed. This uncommon carnivorous dinosaur had a shorter snout, but longer legs, than Allosaurus. It lived over 150 million years ago

At Cleveland-Lloyd 2 MARSHOSAURUS fossils have been located Smaller than Allosaurus and known only from incomplete fossil material, this animal is distinguished from other dinosaurs by its hip bones. It also lived during the late Jurassic period 150 - 155 million years ago. Marshosaurus are carnivores.

At Cleveland-Lloyd only 1 BAROSAURUS fossil has been found. Barosaurus is a rare dinosaur with a neck that was over 30 feet long. It was one of the few herbivores located at the site. It lived during the late Jurasic period 150 - 155 million years ago.

At the site 3 CAMARASAURUS fossils have been found Camarasaurus is one of the most common and best studied of the long-necked dinosaurs. Its head was large and box-like and its neck was shorter and thicker than other similar-sized long-necked dinosaurs It lived 150 - 155 million years ago Camarasaurus are herbivores.

At Cleveland-Lloyd 4 STEGOSAURUS fossils have been located Stegosaurus is one of only a few plated dinosaurs that are found in western North America. Triangular plates were arranged along its back, and its tail was armed with four long spikes. It lived 150 - 155 million years ago. Stegosaurus are herbivores.

At the site 5 CAMPTOSAURUS fossils have been found Camptosaurus had five fingers and a snout that ended in a horny beak. While it may have grazed on four legs, the short forelimbs suggest that it walked on only its hindlimbs. It was a plant eater that lived 150 - 155 million years ago.
