WELCOME TO BRADLEY ATHLETICS 2018/2019

ATHLETICS WHY IT IS A GOOD CHOICE FOR YOUR SON Builds character Confidence Team Player/sportsmanship Discipline Time management Accountability List of positive characteristics can go on…. All of these qualities are important in all aspects of life and not just in sports.

Churchill / MacArthur We are designated as a school that feeds both Churchill and MacArthur High School. Our goal is to prepare our athletes for athletic competition and ready them for high school sports.

While your students are at Bradley, they are all BEARS…FOR LIFE

Physical & Paperwork Physical/medical history [Required for Churchill (boys) Strength/Conditioning Camp] Participation form and UIL forms (RANK-ONE completed on line) Valid for one year Keep a copy for your records Insurance purchase ($30.00 at school coverall pk-12)

NEISD Middle School Sports Physicals CURRENTLY, PHYSICALS ARE ON YOUR OWN. PLEASE COMPLETE THE MEDICAL HISTORY PORTION OF THE PHYSICAL FORM BEFORE YOU GO TO THE DR. ALL PHYSICALS MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE PRACTICE OR GAME

Player Experience ALL SPORTS ARE “NO CUT” – EVERYONE HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE. ATHLETES ARE PLACED ON TEAMS ACCORDING TO SKILL LEVEL. A, B, GO TEAMS RESUMES ARE NOT ACCEPTED – THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN IN CAMPS AND CLUBS DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT WHERE YOU WANT TO PLAY ALL PLAYERS ARE EVALUATED IN THE SAME WAY.

PRACTICE TIMES Football practice is daily 7th grade BB Go Team practices Athletes will have enough time to eat before athletics and dress before 2nd period class.

Player Pickup/drop off before and after Practice and Games Players must be dropped off for early morning practice and picked up from afternoon practice in the back parking lot located by the football field. Please park in a parking place; busses from the away game must be able to safely unload players.

Athletic Period The Athletic classes are designed to prepare our athletes for competition. They are physically and mentally challenging and require full commitment. 7th Grade – 1st Period 8th Grade – 8th Period

Off Season Includes all those in the Athletic Class not participating in an in-season sport Development of Power, Agility, Speed, and endurance Skill development for up-coming sport TEAMWORK, COMPETITION, AND SPORTSMANSHIP

Games begin at 4:30pm Third Games Possible Schedules for the 2018-19 school year will be available later in June. Check webpages.

Transportation Players are expected to ride the Team bus to and from away games. Players are expected to stay through all games and support their peers.

Academic Eligibility Players must maintain a 70 average in all classes. They will become academically ineligible to play in games if grades drop below a 70 during scheduled eligibility check. (check calendar) They will still be required to practice.

Quitting can become a habit Quitting / Removal Quitting can become a habit Players are expected to finish what they start – extenuating circumstances must be communicated with your coach

Removal Players who quit or are removed due to discipline or absences will have their schedule changed out of the athletic period. This can result in their entire daily schedule being changed

Family Rules We respect family rules They require a dual commitment Using sports participation as family discipline can lose its effectiveness quickly

Doctor’s Notes / Asthma ”Asthma action plan” TWO INHALERS ARE A MUST Injury/Soreness - there is a difference. It is our goal to develop the athlete as a whole. Although injuries may be serious, we would like to see the athlete participate in some capacity. Being sedentary for any length of time will make it more difficult to return to play
