Welcome Back! Grab a blue, pink, and white WS & white packet ------------ Find your new seat on the clipboard.

Classroom Rules 1. Be in your seat when the bell rings and listen to directions the first time they are given. 2. Be prepared for class by bringing your materials and completing your homework. 3. Show respect to the teacher and your classmates at all times. 4. Be attentive in the classroom, which means no cell phones, other homework, or personal notes. 5. Be a positive participant in the classroom. Enjoy learning math and put forth your best effort!

Required Materials your Geometry textbook You are expected to come prepared for class everyday with your Geometry textbook a notebook and folder OR binder with loose leaf paper used for ONLY Geometry a scientific or graphing calculator (TI-30X IIS or TI-30X IIB recommended) and a pencil with eraser. Materials will be checked for homework points randomly throughout the semester.

What’s new?? Grading Scale: 20% Classwork/HW, 25% Quizzes, 35% Tests, 20% Unit Assessments Homework checked DAILY during warm-up Last day late homework is accepted is day of the Chapter Test Absent Bin – YOUR RESPONSIBILITY Bathroom Passes – 4 each quarter Chapter Calendars Cell Phone JAIL

9.1: Reflections Objective: Draw reflections in the coordinate plane

What is a transformation? An operation that maps an original geometric figure (preimage) onto a new figure (image). There are 4 kinds: Reflections (9.1) Rotations (9.3) Translations (9.2) Dilations (9.6)

Same Size! What is an isometry? P P A transformation that preserves the length including angles, parallel lines and distance between the points. Same Size! Isometry P Not Isometry P

Reflection about a line. Is a reflection an isometry? line of reflection P P preimage (before transformation) image (after transformation)

Steps for drawing a reflection: Identify the line of reflection. 2. Mark new points equidistant from line of reflection. 3. Connect new points to make image.

What are the rules for Reflections? Complete the THREE reflections by following the steps. Make sure to write the rule! Work with your partner STOP when you get to the line
