Our experience of growth within the Canadian church can be concerning. The church is a people coded to grow numerically and for individual followers of Jesus to grow within.

Parents: Initiators and stewards of family growth

God commissioned humankind to “go and grow, knowing that nothing in creation will stand in your way”.

Just as God, who is creator of all things, gave humanity the authority to “go, grow and be fruitful” in Genesis 1:28, Jesus, the One possessing all authority in heaven and earth, gave those who follow Him the full authority to “go, grow and be fruitful” once again.

Church Growth: Evangelism and Discipleship

The church then is like an ever-expanding sprawling estate, filled increasingly with all kinds of good things.

In the end, the growth mandate of the church is not a pipe dream, the ultimate result is secured in Jesus.

As the church, we are to grow both numerically and in maturity and both of these realities necessitate change.

We are designed to grow, we are purposed with growth, and we are blessed in Christ to grow. Might we be a growing people in whom disciples are grown.
