1 Essential doctrine Definitions

2 4 Key words Soteriology Eschatology Ecclisiology Trinity

3 soteriology The study of salvation There is an afterlife
How do you ensure that you go to the “better” afterlife? Bible is full of scriptures on how to get saved (Exo 15:2, Ps 27:1, Acts 4:12, Rom 1:16, Phil 2:12, Rom 10:9, etc) Common theme: salvation depends on God Therefore, it is important to know WHO God is and WHICH God can save

4 The trinity Who is the Christian God?
What’s the difference between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Only the TRUE Creator can save His creation Without knowing who God is, we can miss the relevance of Jesus

5 Eschatology The study of the last days and the end of the world
Many different theories and understandings, different thoughts Relevant to every human being (the end of everything and what we can do about it) Complex but important to understand Jesus, Daniel, Revelation, prophets, all spoke about the end times. The key is to recognise deception and recognising the true Jesus when He returns

6 Ecclesiology The study of the church
Church is not just the building, but the people Studying the church helps us understand our role in today’s society We need to know what God has called us, the church, to do How do we see the church? The church is the bride of Christ, we are His children. Therefore, we need to be respectful and honouring when we speak about God’s family 1 John 4:20, 21 – Love is the key to approaching the church and one another

7 The end The church Salvation Creation Trinity

8 Begins with Trinity (God is eternal)
Creation was the origin of man (God stepping into time) The plan for salvation was the purpose for Jesus coming to Earth (God stepping into time) The church was filled with the Holy Spirit to empower us to grow and expand the kingdom (God stepping into time) Important because this is where we are now. This is the LAST step before Jesus returns Jesus will return again and the world will end (God stepping into time) Every time God steps into our realm is significant. It’s important to understand what God is doing and what His plans are every step of the way. Ultimately, it will all make sense and come together. It will not contradict itself
