Governor’s Center for Management Development Executive Oversight of Contract Management July 12-13, 2016 Austin, Texas This course will equip state agency managers and executives to effectively oversee contract managers in their line of supervision. For more information call the Governor’s Center at 512-475-8100 or register online at www.utexas.edu/lbj/gcmd This course is oriented to state agency, local government, and higher education managers who supervise individuals with contract management duties and will equip them to more effectively oversee the contract managers in their line of supervision. It provides high-level but practical information about ways government managers can monitor individuals who procure, negotiate, and/or manage contracts.  Best practices will be highlighted as well as the principal risks to positive contract management outcomes. The course's emphasis will be on how to effectively support and guide those who are responsible for day-to-day procurement and contract management activities. Each course module will conclude with a set of sample questions that can be asked of individuals with contract management responsibilities to ensure that their activities are at the appropriate level of accountability, efficiency, and compliance with government policy. Randy Fritz is an expert in Texas contract management policies and operations.  The course he developed—Contract Management in Government— consistently received high evaluation scores from the more than 600 state agency contract managers who have taken it.  Previously, he oversaw contract management activities for the Department of State Health Services as its Chief Operating Officer.  He was also responsible for one of the state’s most significant outsourcing initiatives:  the original eligibility and enrollment services contract for Medicaid and CHIP.       Instructor
