MT: Urinary System I will understand the structure and function of the bladder and urethra.

Structure of Bladder Collapsible bag located in the pubic region Mainly composed of smooth muscle Lined with mucous 3 openings (2 to ureters, 1 to urethra)

Function of Bladder Reservoir for urine

Structure of Urethra Small tube lined with mucous for smooth micturition ~ 1.2” long in females, ~8” long in males Connects bladder to external body

Function of Urethra Females: micturition Males: micturition and ejaculation
