Christ’s Compassion Lesson 6

Theme To treat with kindness is to show compassion. A believer cannot allow separation from sin to interfere with his responsibility to win sinful people to Christ.

I. Compassion Overcomes Obstacles (John 4:1-42) A. Racial & Cultural Obstacles 1. Jewish/Samaritan animosity 2. Christ determined to minister to them a. took the nontraditional route b. she raised the issue 3. The disciples were shocked B. Personal Obstacles 1. Lack of spiritual understanding

II. Compassion Brings Gratitude (Lk. 7:36-50) A. A sinful woman was over-whelmed by Christ’s compassion 1. Entered the home of a Pharisee 2. Wept over Christ’s feet 3. Used her hair to wipe his feet 4. Anointed & kissed His feet
