The concept of Ihsan In Islam Presented by : Hind Ahmad Al-Najmi

What does Ihsan mean ?

It is a word include or collect “ 5 “ words meaning in English ! .. the term Ihsan cannot be translated word for word because there is no word in the English language that gives its exact meaning !!! ... It is a word include or collect “ 5 “ words meaning in English ! .. Ihsan = Correctness + Perfection + Proficiency Beauty + Sincerity

So Ihsan means to do a thing well, in the best possible manner, to achiever excellence, to aim ----> at beauty and perfection, and most importantly, to do it as an inner motive for the seek of Almighty Allah

Gabriel asked The prophet Mohammad : what is Ihsan ? .. prophet Mohammad Answered : “It is that you worship Allah as if you see Him. And even though you do not see Him, [ you know ] He sees you.”

1- worship Allah as if we see Him From the hadith Ihsan consists of two parts : 1- worship Allah as if we see Him 2 - to worship with the thought that He is seeing us For example : when your Boss in work standing in front of you and keep watching your works what kind of product you wall achieve ?! ..

Our actions is no longer checked by outward social mechanisms ! .. So when we practice Ihsan : our worship will be the same if there someone is watching us or not ! .. Our actions is no longer checked by outward social mechanisms ! .. It is an “ internal “ mechanism ! ..

Ihsan is not just perform in the religious deeds (ibadah), but Ihsan should be observed and practiced in all actions we do ! ... Ihsan can be practiced in all areas of a human life !! ; in spiritual life, in job, in personal relationships, and in the way he deal with people and the way he communicate with them ..

Ihsan to one’s self : Prophet (PBUH) said, “I have only been sent to perfect noble character .." Ihsan should be applied in building our characters and morality to be the best we can be

Also Ihsan should be observed in the way we learning and teaching in the way we eat , the way we sleep and in the way we look and dress !!

prophet Mohammad said :

Ihsan also must be practiced in our relationship with others with our neighbors, relatives, and family specially our parents ; Allah says in the holy Quran : (( And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment . Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word . ))

Ihsan in Greeting !

Ihsan In Giving

A man comes to prophet Mohammad peace be upon him A man comes to prophet Mohammad peace be upon him .. and asked him a charity .. Prophet Mohammad gives him money “ to feed him and his family “ and gives him Poleaxe so he can work to fulfill his needs and avoid him the disgrace of asking others ..

Ihsan in works and jobs .. prophet Mohammad said : “ Allah loves when one of you is given a task, that he or she does it in the most excellent manner .”

Ihsan To Animals

The Prophet Mohammad said : )) Verily Allah has prescribed Ihsan (goodness) for everything ! ……. So when you slaughter , then slaughter in the best manner . Let one of you sharpen his knife and give ease to his animal .." ((

The hadith mentions one way of dealing nicely or being merciful with animals and that is in the case of slaughtering ... 1) we should use a sharp knife to quicken the death and to slaughter at a place that does not hurt the animal unnecessarily .. 2) we should not sharpen the knife in front of the animal and slaughter the animal in front of other animals .. 3) We also should not slaughter animals that are pregnant or are breast-feeding ...
