The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Presents Pennies for Patients e-book Every Penny Counts!

Mission: To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma (cancers of the blood), and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

What is Pennies for Patients? A national project to help those with cancer. Students donate spare change to help patients. This year over 400 schools in the area will participate, and together we will work to fight cancer! sdfasdfasdf

Facts About Blood Cancers Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma are types of blood cancers. An estimated 1,000,000 people in the U.S. are living with blood cancer. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults. Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

Making the Grade If you were diagnosed with leukemia in 1949 (64 years ago)... You would have a 3% chance of surviving. If we were to give this survival rate a grade it would be an “F.” If you were diagnosed with leukemia today... You would have an 87% chance of surviving. If we were to give this survival rate a grade it would be a “B+.” Our goal is to earn an A+. That is why we are working every day to find cures!

Why should we participate? By participating in your school's Pennies for Patients you and your classmates will be making a huge difference in the lives of patients with blood cancers. By donating change and watching the coins add up, each student learns that even a small effort can make a real difference in the lives of others. Promotes Community Action.

Where does the money go? Patient Aid $500 for every patient each year Research $68 Million per year goes to research! Support Groups 11 in our area Education programs, books and brochures

Not including this school year, Drew has donated $2,455.85. How has Drew ES done? Not including this school year, Drew has donated $2,455.85.

Thank you! Every penny counts! Add your school’s name to this slide!
