What is Omeka? Frequently used in Libraries , Museums, Archives… Omeka is a web publishing platform for sharing digital collections and creating media-rich online exhibits. Provides additional functionality for items requiring Metadata- Platform that anticipates heavy use of Metadata to promote ease of use and searching.

What is Metadata? Metadata helps you find stuff! Metadata is Descriptive data or Descriptive elements about other Data ( eg. images, documents, etc)

Add Item – Dublin Core The Dublin Core metadata element set is common to all Omeka records, including items, files, and collections. For more information see, http://dublincore.org/documents/dces/. Standardized/ controlled Vocabulary: The Dublin Core Metadata Element Set is a vocabulary of fifteen properties for use in resource description. The name "Dublin" is due to its origin at a 1995 invitational workshop in Dublin, Ohio; "core" because its elements are broad and generic, usable for describing a wide range of resources. Metadata is working behind the scenes to help you locate items in a collection Or catalog.

Omeka uses: ITEMS, COLLECTIONS , AND EXHIBITS
