Dog Breeds for Vet science

Herding group

Australian cattle dog Very active, high energy dog.

Australian shepherd Most known for having 2 different colored eyes. Short tail.

Border Collie  intelligence  athleticism  perfect outlet in agility work.

Collie  Very Active Collies are active and need daily exercise, but they're happy to chill at home the rest of the time

German shepherd dog Very Active  require regular mental and physical exercise

Old English sheepdog Lots and lots of hair.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi Pembroke loves physical activity and is happiest when he has a job to do.

Shetland Sheepdog Bright Playful energetic

Hound group

Afghan hound Very Active Bred for high-speed pursuit

Basenji  Very Active; Energetic. inquisitive hounds. Basenjis need running room and lots of exercise.

Basset hound Bassets are not the most active breed but do need regular walks to stay healthy

Beagle  quick, energetic and compact hound dog needs plenty of exercise

Black and tan coonhound Big, athletic hunters who work nights need regular exercise between naps

Bloodhound Somewhat Active  a mush around the house, but relentless and stubborn on the trail

Dachshund They were bred to hunt badgers. First Olympic mascot. First dog ever cloned.

Greyhound  Somewhat Active  Greyhounds need regular time to sprint, but otherwise they’re mellow housedogs

Rhodesian Ridgeback Somewhat Active Athletic, quick, and strong, RRs need lots of exercise and socialization

Dairy Cattle

Aryshire From Southwest Scotland.

Brown swiss From Switzerland Second highest milk yield.

Guernsey rich flavor of its milk  its hardiness and docile disposition.

Holstein Holstein cows give more milk than any other dairy breed in the U.S.

jersey renowned for their ease of calving.  a small breed of dairy cattle

Beef cattle

angus Originated in Scotland. Black. Naturally polled. High quality carcass. Early maturity. Good maternally. Certified angus Beef.

Brahman Has a very distinct appearance: Hump on shoulders Loose skin on neck. Large droopy ears.

charolais White or creamy in color. Charolais are bred for meat and are often crossed with other breeds such as Angus and Hereford.

hereford Medium to large bodied animals. Deep bodied. Deep fleshed. Has white faces with red markings.

Shorthorn Used for meat and dairy. Crossing breeds with shorthorn can result in increased calving ease, docility, fertility, growth and carcass quality.

Simmental Colors vary but are usually red-white, or gold-white. The animals including young calves always have white faces.

American Landrace Long body length. Large and droopy ears. Solid white in color.

Berkshire Mostly black except for white on face, legs. Medium sized.

Chester white Produces large litters. More than likely white with blue spots.

duroc Red, large framed, medium length, droopy ears, least aggressive.

hampshire Black body except for white band around shoulders and front legs.

Yorkshire Most recorded swine breed.
