Preliminary, Production and Promotional 3 P’s Preliminary, Production and Promotional

Preliminary Types of Graphic & Purpose: Freehand sketch – to quickly generate and compare concept ideas. Market research charts - graphs or tables showing results of consumer surveys. Thumbnails, roughs and visuals - sketches and drawings used to plan promotional publications.

Production Types of Graphic & Purpose: Orthographic Drawings, exploded views, isometrics & assembly drawings– to show fully dimensioned drawings and moving parts/materials. These are used in manufacture & assembly of a product. Location, site & floor plans- scaled & fully dimensioned building drawings to inform builders, electricians etc.

Promotional Types of Graphic & Purpose: DTP Proofs e.g poster, leaflet, advert etc– created on publisher/serif. Used to attract consumers by sales & marketing companies. Rendered 3D models, photographs etc – used in promotional material such as brochures, leaflets, posters etc.
