Homographs & Homophones The wind brings a message to Jiro-San. You must wind the toy car to make it go. Homographs look the same but have different meanings and pronunciations. Jiro-San knows secrets of the sea. Do you see the turtle? Homophones sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.

Remember to read and listen carefully. Which one means shut? Near? 1. Taro lives close to the sea. 2. Please close the door. Which one means a story? Part of an animal’s body? 3. Jiro-San tells a tale about his old friends. 4. The whale flicked its tail out of the water.
