Sustainable Futures - Hydrosphere - Carbon and water cycle - Issues influencing the Earth & sustainability - Global issues around water security and water quality - Exploring some local South Australian issues

Sustainable Futures - Hydrosphere Assignment Grade Comments Visual Representation of the Carbon Cycle A I worked with new people this time. I focused on the science of the cycle and I am proud of my perseverance with this tight timeline. Acid and Base Titration I was absent for all most of this topic. I asked Sascha for help and she taught and guided me through everything. Issues in Water This was hard; the science confused me. Peer discussions helped me. I managed to present to the class. Responsible Citizenship A citizen will help out and make a positive impact on the community. Being aware will also improve a person’s citizenship because you will know what areas of the community needs assistance. Example Evidence Be involved in, and contribute to the community Giving money to someone fundraising for the City to Bay Consider issues that are important to the community, such as social, environmental, economic, or political Lower Lake investigations – Looking at the pros and cons of opening the barrages and re-enacting a town meeting Learning and becoming aware of Australia’s political system through peer discussions

Personal Development Personal development is simply being aware of you, your strengths, and weaknesses and developing on those skills Example Evidence Build self-confidence, self awareness, and interpersonal and intrapersonal skills Building on my ability to communicate and connect with strangers or people outside my friendship group by initiating conversations, asking teachers for advice, and smiling to strangers Being aware of my attitude towards assignments and mentally changing my opinions in a more positive light. Improves skills in planning, problem-solving, and managing a complex extended project RP – Developing skills in creating Gantt Charts in excel. Facing challenges such as how I can tackle ethical concerns, how I can meet my RP deadline.

Think Scientifically and Mathematically Recognising the application and scientific and mathematical concepts in everyday life Example Evidence Applying scientific and mathematical skills and knowledge RP – Using skills in experimental design and scientific knowledge to create my own questions and create my own methods of discovering answers Understanding the limitations of a products advertisement accuracy with knowledge from mathematics

Critical and Creative Thinking The ability to generate and evaluate knowledge, clarify concepts and idea, seek possibilities, consider alternatives, solve problems, think broadly and deeply using skills, behaviours and dispositions such as reason, logic, resourcefulness, imagination and innovation. Example Evidence Thinking critically, logically, ethically and reflectively RP – In my journal entries, I wrote down my thoughts in a variety of ways such as thinking about the plan, thinking about if resources were useful and reflecting on how things link together Posing Questions and identifying and clarifying information and ideas RP – Posed questions, identified ideas in lotus diagrams and reflecting on the links between different information. Reflecting on, adjusting and explaining their thinking and identifying the reasons for choices, strategies and actions taken. RP – Reflections explaining why I chose the topic, why I chose those research processes, why I chose this outcome.

Am I ready for year 12? I have many gaps in my year 10/11 knowledge My ability to do well isn’t an issue I will finish Stage 1 of my SACE this year My results in in subjects is satisfactory to move on to Stage 2 level

Alternative Pathways Keep in mind that my main goal is to find a solution that will keep me occupied, less likely to get stressed or sick, improve my quality of life and in the future lead to nursing.
