Romeo and Juliet Project By: Maddie Nance

Soundtrack Songs “Love Story” by Taylor Swift Tells the story of the play. Two teenagers fall in love at a party. However, the parents don’t want the two to be together, Juliet waits for Romeo to save her – just like she did when she “died.” This song could be played with Romeo and Juliet are sneaking around. “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry Romeo and Juliet die very young. Their parents are very upset over loosing their children. I see this song being played at the end of the play. “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars Romeo thinks Juliet is perfect from the moment he lays eyes on her. He wouldn’t do anything to change the way she looks or who she is. This could be played right after Romeo meets Juliet.

Soundtrack Songs “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston Romeo and Juliet fall deeply in love with each other. They couldn’t stand the thought of living without each other. When each saw the other one dead, they took their own life. This song could be played at the end of the play. "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles Romeo and Juliet have what seems to be an eternal love for each other. This could also be played at the end when they each commit suicide for the other. “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys Romeo and Juliet didn’t care if they weren’t suppose to be together, they would do anything to be able to see each other. There love was so strong, if they only had each other, they would still be happy.

Soundtrack Songs “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack Romeo fell in love with Juliet as soon as he laid eyes on her at the Capulet’s party. Juliet fell in love with him right away, too. This song could be played when Juliet and Romeo first see each other. "Without You" by David Guetta When Romeo thought Juliet was dead, he didn't know what to do. He couldn't stand the thought of living without the other person. Juliet felt the same way when she saw Romeo dead. This song could be played at the end of the play when they each find each other dead.

“Woman on a Balcony” “Women on a Balcony” relates to Romeo and Juliet by representing one of it’s greatest scenes. Romeo and Juliet profess their love for each other while Juliet is on her balcony. This picture represents Juliet on her balcony talking to Romeo. Carl Gustav Carus

Play Setting I would set the play, Romeo and Juliet, in Paris, France. The play is about love, Paris is a place that comes to mind when I think of love. I can also see the use of older words, like the types of words used in Romeo and Juliet, spoken in a place like this. Paris has many beautiful buildings that were built during the time period this play takes place in.

Act 2, Scene 2 - Juliet 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy. The only part of Romeo that is an enemy to Juliet, is his name. 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy. Thou art thyself, though not a Montague. What’s Montague? It is nor hand, nor foot, Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What’s in a name? That which we call a rose By any other word would smell as sweet. So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, And for that name, which is no part of thee Take all myself. Juliet thinks a name has nothing to do with who a person is. Juliet thinks taking away Romeo’s last name wouldn’t change him at all, or who he is. Helps you understand what Juliet is saying when she compares names of people to names of flowers. You see what she means by the object wouldn’t be different with a different name.
