Unit 21:Biomedical Science Assignment 1: MRSA

Starter Activity Add detail / labels/ colour in the bacterial cell:

Lesson Objectives (To observe results from swabbing investigation.) To understand the points of entry into the body of bacteria.

Swabbing Investigation Observe your agar plate. Draw what you see. Place the plates in order on the side bench. From most to least bacteria. Were our predictions correct?

What have we covered so far? Sources of infection: human reservoirs; animal reservoirs; non-living reservoirs Routes of transmission: direct / indirect contact; vehicle; vectors

Routes of entry into the body Think of the ways in which bacteria can enter the body (in normal situations) Draw these on the body blanks.

Assignment Task: Produce a report including: An introduction detailing the basic structure of bacterial cells. (Include diagrams) Details of the MRSA bacteria. Explanations of the sources of infection of MRSA. Details of the routes of transmission of bacteria Details of the routes of entry into the human body.
