Ossifying Thymoma Clinically Presenting With Peripheral T-Cell Lymphocytosis  Han-Ku Chen, MD, Wan-Ting Huang, MD, Hock-Liew Eng, MD, Hung-I. Lu, MD, Hsuan-Ying Huang, MD  The Annals of Thoracic Surgery  Volume 88, Issue 1, Pages e5-e7 (July 2009) DOI: 10.1016/j.athoracsur.2009.03.093 Copyright © 2009 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions

Fig 1 (A) Preoperative computed tomographic scan reveals a mediastinal tissue mass with central calcified rim (arrowheads). (B) Grossly, it is an encapsulated and lobulated mass with a soft, milky white, cut surface. The calcifying rim is found in the center (arrowheads) with gritty consistency. Fig 2 (A) Microscopically, neoplastic epithelial cells with vesicular nuclei are scattered throughout the background of abundant small lymphocytes (Hematoxylin & eosin stain; ×200). (B) The calcifying osseous component indicated by arrowheads in Figure 1 is composed of mature lamellar bone on the right (Hematoxylin & eosin stain; ×20).
