Clouds in a Bottle Science Lab http://www.shermanisd.net/Curriculum/Weather/make_a_cloud_in_a_bottle.htm

Explanation We are going to demonstrate how clouds are formed using an ice cube, hot water, and a clear clean jar. Before we start let’s answer a few questions: What are clouds? How do clouds look? What is the purpose of clouds? How are clouds formed? How many different types of clouds are there?

Step #1 Problem How are clouds formed?

Step #2 Hypothesis Make your prediction here. What do you think will happen?

Step #3 Materials An ice cube Hot water A clear, clean jar or bottle

Step #4 Procedure Pour about ½ inch of very hot water into a clear bottle or jar. Immediately cover the mouth of the bottle with an ice cube.

Step #5 Results Explain what you observed.

Step #6 Conclusion Explain how the demonstration relates to cloud formation.
