Strong, Complete Proposal ISOC has long played a critical role in ensuring that the Internet develops in a stable and open manner Through a separate nonprofit company - Public Interest Registry (PIR) - we will draw upon the resources of ISOCs extended global network to drive policy and management Afilias provides dependable, global technology services and the most experience in running an EPP based registry This ensures smooth transition and stability for.ORG domain

ISOC is a natural successor to manage.ORG Foremost non-commercial organization focused on the Internet –Tradition of working in the public interest –Over 10,000 individual members (free membership), over 65% outside North America –85% of chapters outside North America –Over 137 organizational members, including many non-commercials –Strong globally diverse board ISOC will create the Public Interest Registry (PIR) to manage.ORG –Separate nonprofit company to contract with ICANN –Board appointed by ISOC –PIR policies derived from ISOCs principles –PIR will contract with Afilias for back-end registry services

Proven Back-end Registry Afilias selected based upon the following factors: –Most successful new gTLD registry (over 850,000 names in.INFO) –Fuels international registry competition with global operations (Ireland, US, UK, Canada) –Afilias.INFO-authorized registrars now manage 99% of all.ORG registrations Facilitates smooth transition –Contracts exclusively with ICANN-accredited registrars –Proven ability to make and meet commitments
