Electronic Waste One of the fastest growing waste streams worldwide Ended up being recycled, refurbished ,landfill Example: cellphones, desktop computers, laptops, printers and televisions 9

Printed Circuit Boards Contains significant quantities of hazardous and toxic materials Contains : copper, tin, lead, and other precious metals Concentration of metals in PCBs is considerably higher than in their ores Why are we mentioning PCB? Because first, PCB can be found in almost all of electronic devices Second, PCB is one among the most complex Ewaste to be recycled 10

E-Waste in Indonesia Most of them still end up in landfill Quite a lot of collectors but only a handful of processors Hindered by the lack of technological innovations Still unable to process Electronic Waste effectively and efficiently 11

Metal from E-Waste Most of e-waste recycle industry have recycling facility to produce metal scrap Some ended up being metal ingot for production material 12

Facilities in East Java

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Found in some electronic devices such as mobile phone cases, vacuum cleaners and automotive parts ABS virgin is somewhat expensive, which makes recycling economically very attractive In Indonesia, ABS has been recycled into other or same end-products 14

Why Recycle E-Waste? Conserves natural resources by recovering valuable materials from old electronics which save resources by extracting fewer raw materials from the earth Saving our future generation by preventing toxic and hazardous materials in landfill to leach into our soil and water eCycling creates jobs for professional recyclers and refurbishers and creates new markets for the valuable components that are dismantled 15
