History Musicals started on Broadway St in New York, City around the turn of the 20th century (early 1900s) Short plays with song and dance were performed on street corners

History continued Revues soon started Florence Ziegfeld with “Ziegfeld Follies” Singers, dancers, chorus line Pioneered new talents of songwriters Also allowed African-American talent to be showcased Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Louis Armstrong, and Ethel Waters
