A thorough neurologic investigation is warranted in such cases. CNS lesions of this type may eventually lead to a neurologic defect and require neurosurgical correction. The simultaneous presence of other skin lesions, such as lipoma, hemangioma or port-wine stain, increases the possibility of a spinal cord abnormality.
