ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

What’s the history of this Mental Illness? It was found in 1902 by Sir George

Who is Affected? People that are usually affected by this are children (aged 3-17). It is also more common for boys than girls.

How common is it? In U.S it affects about 5 million of children

ADHD is largely a genetic disorder What causes it ADHD is largely a genetic disorder

What are the symptoms? Easily distracted Trouble sitting still Acting before thinking

No one knows how to diagnose ADHD for now. How is it diagnosed? No one knows how to diagnose ADHD for now.

What are cures, treatment or supports? Amphetamine-based stimulants Dextromethamphetamine Methylphenidate Atomoxetine

How does it impact youth? ADHD affects teenagers especially in school because they cannot focus properly. They usually misses out on learning things.

What is the economic cost of this mental illness? U.S spends between $143 billion to $266 billion every year.
