SATs have been taking place for several years in England SATs have been taking place for several years in England. In March 2014 the DfE published an outline for new assessments – several changes have been taking place that over the last year. Results of the SATs do not affect your child’s secondary school place which they will find out about in March 2017. Results and teacher assessments are requested by secondary schools to help stream pupils in ability groups.
January 2017 – April 2017 3 way setting for: Maths and English - Reading , SPaG Booster classes 13th – 17th February 2017 - Half Term Revision SATs packs Easter holidays ( 31st March – 17th April 2017 ) Easter Revision SATs packs 18th April - 5th May 2017 Ongoing Revision Week 8th – 12th May 2017 SATs Week Reading, SPaG and Maths tests will be sent away to be marked externally. Writing will be assessed internally. July 2017 Results returned to schools and pupils

Preparing the children in school leading up to and during SATs week - Providing a calm settled classroom - Encouraging application and focus during revision sessions - Setting realistic, though challenging task for individuals - Providing rest breaks, space, brain gym activities, - Prompts, reading support, additional time - Breakfast club
Preparing the children at home leading up to and during SATs week - providing a calm settled home - encouraging application and focus during revision sessions - limiting revision sessions to 30 minute blocks - encouraging rest periods, play periods, good sleeping patterns - ensuring child attends every day when well and ON TIME - ensuring child has all the equipment they need
