The Pilgrim Fathers and the first Thanksgiving Day

Who were the Pilgrim Fathers? They were a group of settlers from the UK that escaped religious persecutions. They went to the East Coast of North America to find work and an opportunity to live freely.

In 1620 they left England in a ship called the Mayflower after three months they arrived in their new home and found a new Colony.

The first months in the new country were very difficult: Why? it was winter, they didn’t know how to build houses or cultivate the land, half of them died.

But what happened?

In autumn 1621, 51 Pilgrims and 90 Natives celebrated the First Thanksgiving : they wanted to thank the Natives for their help during the first difficult months .
