Activities to Try Room 124 Reminders Dear Parents, This school year is off to a wonderful start. In the upcoming year your child will do the following: learn about basic ideas such as colors, shapes, sizes, letters, and numbers use spoken language to better express herself or himself enjoy listening to and talking about read-aloud books begin to recognize the letters of the alphabet explore beginning to write From time to time, we will send letters home with ideas for activities you can use to help your child practice what he or she is learning in school. Reinforcing these ideas and skills at home will be a big help to your child. (Concept Development) What Color? Any time you are with your child, talk about the colors of things. For example, ask, “What color is the sky? What else is that color?” Help your child learn to correctly name these colors: red, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, black, white, brown, pink. (Reading Aloud) Read Aloud Plan time each day to read aloud to your child. As you read, make sure your child can see the illustrations. After you have read a story, talk about it with your child. Reread the same book several times. Reminders Thank you to the parents for donating items to our classroom. We are continuing to accept items such as: hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, and tissue.
