Ear irrigation

Ear irrigation Once the cerumen is softened, it can be removed by ear canal irrigation Contraindications – if the patient is having tympanic membrane perforation and otitis externa (inflammation of the external auditory canal) Irrigation solutions – warm water (body temperature), normal saline, sodium bicarbonate solution. Can be done with bulb syringe or irrigating apparatus.
