“If you don’t understand the numbers, then you are not in the game.” The Income/Outcome™ Retail Business Simulation Income/Outcome™ is a trademark of Andromeda Training Inc.

Finance The Common Business Language In today’s business environment, it is important that all members of the organisation have an understanding of the financial drivers within their business. It is absolutely essential that each individual knows how their actions and decisions will impact on the bottom line. As a supplier to a retailer, it is also essential that your staff have an insight into their Buyer’s thinking & decision making.

Finance The Common Business Language It is our observation that many business people (with a non-financial background) do not have a sound enough appreciation of financial concepts, or how a business operates, and what needs to be done to develop a thriving business. Unfortunately many senior business people also show a similar lack of understanding. The objective of this program is to assist in creating better business managers.

What is Income/Outcome™ ? Income/Outcome™ is a board based financial simulation that assists in developing business financial understanding in visual form. It takes participants into the world of running a retail business & understanding how their customers make their decisions. It uses an interactive learning environment to make what can be a difficult topic fun, relevant and interesting. It is based on sound theory, but takes a practical approach to get people involved.

How Is It Done? Participants work in teams to manage a company over a simulated 12 month trading period. They work as a multi-functional executive team, and have to make all the decisions that a retail business has to make on a day-to-day basis, such as: How much should we spend on advertising? What do we promote & at what price? What should be our category mix? What additional services should we provide? How do we ensure an efficient supply chain?

How Long Does It Take? The Income/Outcome™ retail version takes 2 days to complete.

Learning Outcomes This activity allows for in-depth exercises in analysing the business, forecasting the future, and improving bottom line results. At the conclusion of this program, each participant will understand: why and how market conditions influence business decisions basic financial terminology the difference between cash and profit fixed and variable costs how to set budgets how to forecast cash flow the impact of excess inventory the need to control working capital how to use financial statements in understanding the business how to conduct a break even analysis how to conduct ratio analysis the impact of pricing on profit the need to get the correct category mix how retailers use supplier’s funds

What Are The Benefits Of Income/Outcome™ to You & Your Team? Income/Outcome™ is a dynamic team based activity which allows effective transfer of learning. This leads to a higher degree of retention from participants and application on-the-job compared with traditional Finance for Non-Financial Manager programs. Income/Outcome™ allows participants to develop a visual approach to understanding the financials of their business. This leads to their use of this approach on a day-to-day basis.

What Are The Benefits Of Income/Outcome ™ to You & Your Team? Income/Outcome™ is a team based activity in which participants must take a multi-functional approach. In addition to the formalised learning of financial content, participants learn about team work, working outside the boundaries of departmental silos, and leadership. Income/Outcome™ recognises that every business is unique. Our consultants will work with you prior to the program to ensure that we relate the key learnings to your business. The customising ensures that the program has relevance to all of your team.
