3. Create a supportive online course community Studies have shown that online students not only want to get to know you, their instructor, but also their fellow students.  A "getting acquainted" activity is an opportunity for students to tell a story or share something about themselves.   Judith V. Boettcher & Rita-Marie Conrad (2010) provide some great examples in The Online Teaching Survival Guide  For our "getting acquainted" activity we would like you to include your name, what you teach, a photo and two facts about you that are true and one that is a lie. After you have completed your post, please respond to the other participants and try to guess their lie. Directions on how to add the photo can be found in the "Resources “How To Videos" area.
