Medical Imaging Technologies
Learning goals We are learning to identify the name and function of medical imaging technology.
Medical Imaging produces images of organs and tissues within the body for use in diagnosis and treatment. cost and effective use of technologies for diagnosis and treatment present a major challenge to health-care systems around the world.
X-Ray Send radiation through body to make an image View bone Diagnose injuries
Fluoroscopy X-rays to produce Shows the movement of organs Barium ingested
Ultrasound produce images of body tissues and organs. Soundwaves enter the body and are reflected back by internal body structures
Computed Tomography (CT or CAT scan) using X-ray equipment to form a three dimensional image Bone injuries, cancer, head injuries
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce detailed images of the body brain, heart and liver, soft tissues and insides of bones
