Experience with RTG-DIR Alex Zinin (zinin@psg.com) RTG Area co-AD

Experience with RTG-DIR About 20 members today Selected arbitrarily by ADs Official status--advising the ADs (ADs take the blame) Closed-subscription mailing list (rtg-dir@ietf.org) Used mainly for review of the documents coming OUT of the area Also to review some documents coming to the IESG

Experience with RTG-DIR (cont.) General appeals rarely work Each document is assigned two reviewers (depending on the topic) Dead-line is set Comments are usually sent to the WG… …sometimes discussed in rtg-dir first …sometimes ADs proxy comments Comments get recorded in the tracker

Experience with RTG-DIR (cont.) Review happens during AD-review Recent optimization: WG LC’s cc’ed to rtg-dir Recent optimization: IESG agenda fwd’ed to rtg-dir Consider it “late” review, hence request to look for show-stoppers only, plus ID-nits Ask reviewers to separate technical comments from editorial/nits suggestions
