A partnership around gender equality in schools ActionAid and Institute of Education, University of London

TEGINT (Transforming education for girls in Nigeria & Tanzania) :2008-2012 A project partnership for: community-level initiatives, advocacy and campaigning informed by research funded by Comic Relief and the Tubney Charitable Trust Partners: Project implementation: Maarifa (Tanzania), CAPP (Nigeria) and ActionAid Research:(IOE, national research organisations including BERE, UDU, NIPSS) Coverage: Nigeria – 72 (36 primary; 36 JSS) across 8 states Tanzania – 57 (47 primary; 10 secondary) across 6 districts

SVAGS (Stop Violence against girls): 2008-2013 Partnerships Led by ActionAid, funded by Big Lottery Fund 7 different national partner organisations (advocacy, community, research) + ActionAid country programmes + Institute of Education Coverage Approx. 15 primary schools in each country, located within one district (Remote rural: Northern Ghana, North Eastern Kenya, peri-urban Mozambique) Research Mixed methods baseline and endline (2800 participants each phase) Qualitative longitudinal studies: How do girls’ capacities to challenge violence and gender inequalities change over the course of the project, how do social relations and institutions contribute to these changes? 108 girls, their families, peers, teachers and communities. Monitoring and Evaluation system to gather and analyse data on indicators annually and feed into programming
