Climate in the U.S. Climate= the weather in a place over a long period of time. (Weather is short period of time) Climate is influenced by latitude and elevation. Latitude: lines running east and west, measure north and south of the equator. Elevation: height

Location of the U.S. The United States is located on the continent of North America. North America is in the mid-latitudes, this means our temperatures change according to the seasons.

Climate: Latitude At the equator temperatures are hot because it gets direct sunlight. At the poles temperatures are cold. Where a location’s latitude is effects how hot or cold temperatures are.

Climate: Elevation The higher up the land, the colder the temperature.

Review There are 8 physical regions in the U.S. Each contain important landforms and US states. The climate of the U.S. is effected by latitude and elevation.
