VSTU HISTORY Vitebsk Technological Institute of Light Industry was founded in June 24, 1965. 250 students began to study there in 5 specialties. On April 20, 1995 it was transformed into Vitebsk State Technological University.

EDUCATION Currently, Vitebsk State Technological University is the leading high school of the Republic of Belarus in the textile industry profile. But the range of specialties for which the training of specialists is being conducted is substantially expanded and includes not only technological, engineering and economic specialties for textile and garment industry enterprises. EDUCATION About 4500 students study at the university on full-time and correspondence courses. Academic personnel includes 263 persons. 16 professors and 120 associate professors lead the teaching and educational process.

STUDENT'S LEISURE Conditions have been created at the University for the development of creative abilities of students. The University has the amateur talent student club and its own Fashion House. There are also clubs and hobby groups, sports units on mini-football, ping pong, basketball, swimming, volleyball.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS At present 205 international students from 11 countries (Egypt, Pakistan, Lithuania, Bangladesh, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, China and Azerbaijan) study at Vitebsk Technological University. University offers training at the following specialties in English. The first stage of higher education: "Marketing and management“ (qualification: Manager - Economist). The second stage of higher education: "Management in social and economic systems" (Master of Economic Sciences); "Technology and preprocessing of textiles and raw materials" (Master of Technical Sciences) "Automation and control of technological processes and industries"

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Staff and students of the University actively participate in carrying out research work. Among the directions of work carried out in the areas of textile production, are the following: Technologies of flax processing Technologies of composite materials manufacturing for different applications Assortment of textiles on the basis of conductive yarns Nanotechnology in functional textiles manufacturing Biotechnology for textiles finishing Technologies of textile wastes processing New structures of woven fabrics Knitted goods for medical application Revival of ancient weaving techniques (Slutsk belts) VSTU has 63 operating agreements on cooperation with foreign educational and scientific institutions.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT The University is the founder of the scientific and technological park (Technopark). Technopark of VSTU is a platform for the development of innovative activities of enterprises creating new technologies and high-tech products. The training and production laboratory "Center for Prototyping" with equipment has been set up on the basis of Technopark. It provides services in the field of 3D technologies, engineering and reengineering, manufacturing of polymer products by molding into silicone molds.

PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS From 2012 to 2017 years the University staff took part in the implementation of 4 Tempus projects: Leading and Managing Change in Higher Education (2012 – 2015) University and Industry for the Modernization of Textile Manufacturing Sector in Belarus (2013 – 2016); Ecological Education for Belarus, Russia and Ukraine (2013 – 2017) Interrigeonal Network for Innovation Development of Ecosystem Technosphere Based on Micro- and Nanoobject Technologies (2013 – 2016)

Currently, university staff are participating in the Erasmus + project on Capacity Building in Higher Education "Innovative Education in ICT for Socio-Economic Development” (2016-2019). Agreements on student and academic mobility are signed with the following universities: Bialystok University of Technology (Poland) Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (Poland) International University College(Bulgaria) Piraeus University of Applied Science (Greece)
