Psalm 100 (NKJV) 1 Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100 (NKJV) 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Approach To Worship Psalm 100

Approach To Worship Worship to God is certainly a big part of the Christian life We often look forward to Sundays, or block them out on our calendars just because it is the Lord’s Day We realize it’s importance in our lives on some level…

Approach To Worship Some view the importance in just being counted present as an event Some view the importance solely on what is done in worship Others view the importance in it’s totality, being present, what we do, our attitude and mindset towards it, etc.

Importance of Worship We need to see the importance of our worship to God It is important to God because it is commanded, but that’s not the only reason why it’s important Certainly we take all commands serious (Matt. 4:10; Jn. 4:24)

Importance of Worship It is important because of WHO God is (Gen. 1:1; Ex. 3:14; Ps. 3:5; Jn. 3:16) It is important because of WHAT God has done for us It is important because of our ongoing relationship with Him and what we owe Him

Importance of Worship It is important when we think about the very meaning of the word worship The Greek word proskuneo is a word that literally means “to kiss towards” It means we are paying homage to God, and we do so because He is worthy

God-Centered Worship God should always be the focus of our worship together Jesus said it is He alone that we worship, therefore He is the object of our worship (Matt. 4:10; Rev. 19:10; 22:9) That means focusing in on Him while we are gathered to worship

God-Centered Worship Anything that will distract us from focusing should be put away from us We need to also be aware if we might be a distraction to others Our own personal feelings, likes and dislikes should be placed aside as we seek to worship God with others

God-Centered Worship Phones and tablets can be great helps in our worship to God They can also be a great distraction when we use them in worship for other things (texting, FB, Twitter, IG, etc.) If we can’t use them without distraction, then let’s not use them

Preparation For Worship It may be difficult to give to God that which He deserves if there is no preparation If we drag ourselves here because of a lack of sleep or we miss a period of Bible study because of it What do we do to prepare ourselves?

Preparation For Worship Being tired when we come can certainly affect our attention We can also prepare our minds through prayer and a personal study of God’s word We should come with an open and ready mind, focused on giving God our all

God-Pleasing Worship Above all, what we offer to God we desire to be pleasing to Him We should seek to please God in all we do (Col. 1:10; I Jn. 3:22) Certainly God is looking for those to worship Him who are willing to do it in a way that pleases Him (Jn. 4:23-24)

God-Pleasing Worship We should look forward to coming before our God in worship to Him David said, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.’” (Ps. 122:1) Psalm 100 is a beautiful Psalm that embodies our attitude toward worship
