Han China vs. Xiongnu 3rd century B.C. Xiongnu formed a confederation under a ruler known as chanyu Great Wall of China was built to slow them down Xiongnu raid continued Expeditions were sent to negotiate alliances Large losses and expenditures incurred in fighting Xiongnu Han China won after expeditions into Central Asia about 112 B.C.
