School Council 2016/17

Why be on the school council? It’s super fun! You get to do lots of charity work and cake sales, help at different school events. Your friends will look up to you. You get to make decisions about how the school is run. You might get to make new friends!

What does the school council do? Raise money, the Bake off. Run a stall at the school fair Write a new anti-bullying charter Updated the Behaviour and Safety charter Plan how to make the school better Decide on and buy new equipment Run a suggestion box Tidy classrooms awards

But remember… You might have to miss break or lunchtime some of the time. You might have to miss fun lessons. You have to remember to wear your badge. You have to be a good role model. You have to remember to go to meetings.

Step 1 Vote in your classes for 5 people who want to represent their year group

Step 2 Write a manifesto and read it to your class or in assembly. Say why you want to be on the school council and why people should vote for you. KS2 in assembly KS1 and FS in class

Step 3 Voting will be held – you can vote for yourself. 2 people will be chosen to represent each year group. New school councillors will be announced in assembly and presented with badges.
