Teacher Leadership Project Evans Middle School Glenda Atkins Mary Bowers Connie Deloach

Project Summary Knight Challenge is a remediation/ enrichment program for all the students at Evans Middle School. Students are place in either enrichment or remediation groups based on criterion reference test scores and teacher recommendations.Every student spends 30 minutes per day in the program. Enrichment students rotate to a new class every 4 ½ weeks. Remediation students rotate at the semester.

Rationale The state board of Georgia has mandated that each school provide a remediation program for their students.Evans Middle decided to provide all students with an opportunity for either remediation or enrichment depending on their individual needs.Through Knight Challenge remediation students receive concentrated instruction in math and/or reading skills. Enrichment students receive concentrated instruction on varied topics. All courses cover material which expand on the required QCCs for Middle Grades.

Link to School Improvement Plan Goal: Develop a Focus on Quality Student Work 1.Students will demonstrate skills in applying and integrating various technologies in their learning. 2.Students will utilize and refine the use of multiple strategies to solve a variety of types of problems. 3.Students will integrate the use of a variety of communication forms. Through the varied curriculum set-up by each teacher and the rotating through numerous courses, teachers will be focusing on quality student work in at least one of these three areas.
