Minibeast Creature

Chapter 1 Minibeasts A minibeast is something that has no spine. Minibeasts are bugs or spiders. This is a garden. Gardens have lots of animals like snails, ants, bees, and dragonflies. They are all minibeasts.

This is a ladybug. A Ladybug is your friend. Ladybugs eat all your aphids. Aphids are pests. Can you spot your favourite minibeast in the picture? My favourite minibeast is a caterpillar.

Chapter 2 A termite eats wood. There is the King, the Soldier, the Worker, and the Queen. The Queen lays all the eggs. A termite is a herbivore. A herbivore eats plants. A termite builds a mound like in the picture below.

Chapter 2 Termites recycle their dung to eat as fungi that grows on the dung. Termites build a tall mound. Their mound can be 9 meters tall. An anteater is a predator to the poor termites. Click on the link below to see how an anteater eats termites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BmIfWhnaig

Minibeasts in their natural habitats Chapter 3 Nature Detective Walk Minibeasts in their natural habitats I saw some slaters on top of a log. Slaters have hard shells. On our walk we found some bees. You have to be careful because they sting like wasps. Wasps can sting 30 times. Wasps do not die from stinging you, but bees do. We were exploring the creek for some tadpoles. I saw a tadpole with my eyes. I saw some mosquito eggs.

Chapter 4 I am going to the garden to look for minibeasts. I can see a butterfly, a ladybug, and a spider. Can you spot the spider?

Butterfly Life Cycle Butterfly Poem I am a caterpillar in a chrysalis. I will turn into a butterfly. I will fly away in the garden. A butterfly is an insect.
